Our work today is focused on the task of removing these old and worn-out fence posts from the property. The customer has expressed a clear need for these posts to be taken out in order to open up their land for new possibilities, whether that be for landscaping, construction, or simply to enhance the aesthetic appeal of their yard. It is our responsibility to not only uproot the posts efficiently but also to ensure they are stored safely in a barn until the customer decides what to do with them next. Our team specializes in removal jobs like this, and we take pride in our ability to handle such projects with precision and care. If you find yourself in a situation where there is something on your property that needs to be taken away, we encourage you to reach out to us without any hesitation. Since this particular job requires specialized expertise, it is essential for us to utilize specialized equipment that is specifically designed for such tasks. In the video, you can see the attachment we are using with our mini skid steer: a custom claw that has been crafted using the Toro 3-in-1 multi-tool. This tool, in its standard form, can serve multiple purposes, functioning as a ripper, tow bar, or a landscaping boom. However, we have taken it a step further by welding it to an angle iron, which significantly enhances its functionality. This customized attachment is capable of pinching the fence posts securely and pulling them out of the ground with ease, a feat that a factory multi-tool simply wouldn’t be able to accomplish. Our innovative approach allows us to tackle even the most challenging removal tasks.
The process we follow to extract the posts is straightforward yet effective. We begin by angling the custom multi-tool over one of the fence posts, carefully lowering it down around the post to ensure a secure grip. Once it is positioned correctly, we pinch the tool and apply upward force. The powerful pneumatic arms of the mini skid steer are engineered to deliver substantial pound force, which enables us to pull out the fence posts, regardless of how deeply they may be rooted in the ground. Although we encounter one or two particularly stubborn posts that resist our efforts and end up snapping in half during the extraction process, the majority of the posts are successfully uprooted without any issues.
After successfully extracting the posts, our next step is to transport them to the customer’s barn. You might assume that we would need to switch attachments for this part of the job, but that’s not the case! The multi-tool truly lives up to its name, as it also functions effectively as a sizable grapple attachment. This versatility allows us to pick up between six to nine posts at a time, making the transportation process much more efficient. Once we have a secure grip on the posts with the grapple, we drive the mini skid steer over to the barn, where we carefully deposit the fence posts in a designated area. Following this, we turn our attention to filling in the holes left behind from the uprooted posts and smoothing out the earth to restore the landscape.
To complete the job, we arrange for a fresh delivery of topsoil to be brought to our customer’s property. Once it arrives, we pour it out strategically over the areas where the posts once stood. Next, we switch to a bucket attachment, which allows us to effectively place the soil into the holes left by the posts. After ensuring the holes are adequately filled, we then transition to using a leveler to flatten the surface until it is as smooth as butter. With the ground restored to its original condition, the final step is to pack up our landscaping equipment and tools. Once everything is cleaned up, we can proudly say that we have yet another satisfied customer! At Schott Services, we offer a wide range of landscaping, removal, and demolition work.
