Video of Power Raking- Up Close and Personal: MTW Power Rake

Writer's picture: John SchottJohn Schott

In this video we detail the process of a complete backyard rework with the power rake/soil conditioner. I decided to film this one more like a video explanation with multiple POVs, so you should definitely check it out. In the video we explain every part of the process to transform this old backyard into one growing new, healthy grass.

The first step to redo this backyard is running the power rake over the whole backyard once. This loosens up the old sod which has been compounded a lot by people walking on it over the years. The power rake chews through the soil ferociously.

Now we collect all the grass that’s been pulled out. We put it in a pile for removal. We continue to use the power rake, pushing all the grass into a corner.

When our mound of grassy dirt is finished, we switch to our bucket attachment and scoop all the grass up and deposit it in our truck for hauling.

Now it’s time to switch to our leveler. This tool smooths out the agitated soil, making a level surface perfect for planting grass. After we use the leveler attachment, we grab a hand rake to smooth out the clumps of dirt that our leveler missed.

With the yard having been leveled out as smooth as butter, we start spreading grass seed. Our automatic planter throws out lots of grass seed onto the soil, ensuring a thick bed of grass will grow here. Finally, we cover the ground with straw to protect the grass as it grows. That’s the full reprocess to redo a backyard. Hope it was helpful! Contact us at 317-784-8760 or HappyDumpTruck@gmail.com for all your landscaping needs.
